FAQ’s

Do you charge for your services?

¨  Yes, we are not funded by local, state, or federal taxes.  We are a private business and must charge for our services

What does your service fee cover?

-The service fee covers us coming to your site

  •  inspecting for damage
  • evaluating the best course of action
  • setting traps if that is the course of action
  • resetting traps inadvertently tripped
  • clearing the trap of snow, ice, or other debris
  • rebaiting traps as necessary

¨ It also covers cleaning the trap for the next customer

What does the price per animal cover?

¨   The price per animal covers us coming to your site, removing the animal from your property, resetting the trap with fresh bait and lure, and relocating or disposing of the captured animal.

How do you prevent catching non-target animals?

¨    Most urban animals have adapted to eating almost anything available to them.  We do not use dog food or cat food.  This helps us avoid capturing pets.

¨     We utilize species-specific baits and lures.  However animals that fill the same ecological niche may still be attracted.

¨    Most of our “nuisance” baits and lures are not formulated to attract animals from long distances.

¨    We set traps near the target animals’ entry point or travel path.

Do you charge for non-target animals?

¨      Yes we do.  We still have to come to your site, release or remove the animal from your property, reset and rebait the trap, and/or dispose of the animal.

¨      It is not uncommon for different species of animals to live under the same deck or in the same structure, as long as there is not strong competition for resources.

What if the trap is stolen?

¨      The customer is responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged traps.  If you feel a trap is at risk, let us know and we’ll try to devise a means of securing it.

Can I release an animal from the trap?

¨      No.  It is against state law for anyone other than the operator of the trap to release an animal from the trap, move the trap, touch, or tamper with the trap.

¨      Besides, if you are bitten, you’ll have to go through a regimen of rabies shots that cost a bundle.  The shots aren’t too bad, but the bite usually hurts like heck!!

Do I have to sign an agreement?

¨      Yes, state law requires we have permission to set traps on private property.

How many traps do you set?

¨      We set a minimum of two professional quality humane cage traps, unless conditions only allow us to set one.

Where do you set the traps?

¨      As near the damaged area as possible

¨      On the animals travel route.

Can the animal get out of the trap?

¨      No, we use a professional grade trap.

Will you inspect my attic or crawl space?

¨      We typically do this after the animals have been captured and removed.

¨      We will check for physical damage, biohazard (feces and urine), and insulation compaction.

How long is my service fee good for?

¨      Your service fee will be good for the duration of the project and, typically, an additional 30 days from the original completion date.

How long will you trap?

¨      As long as you are hearing noises or there is evidence of activity.

¨      Once we think things are finished, we usually put an indicator in the entry point to let us know if anything is going in or out.  If nothing moves it within 5-7 days we move to the repair/exclusion phase.

Do you repair the damaged areas to prevent further problems with other animals?

¨      Yes, we will inspect the entire structure; identify the current problem areas and any potential problems.  --      We will give you an estimate for repairs/exclusion.  You have the option to select which repairs or exclusion techniques you feel comfortable with.

Do you warrant your repairs?

¨      All of our repairs carry a minimum one-year warranty, with the option to renew that warranty at the end of that year.

¨      Our warranty covers our repairs, not the entire structure.

What happens if an animal penetrates an area you recommended repair or exclusion work on, and we opted not to do it?

¨      If it is within the 30-day “grace” period, we will not charge you another service fee.  All other prices will remain the same.

¨      After 30 days, we will need to start over.  We may offer you a discount on the service fee.

What happens if an animal penetrates an area that did not require repair or exclusion in the initial service?

¨      If it is within the 30-day “grace” period, we will not charge you another service fee.  All other prices will remain the same.

¨      After 30 days, we will need to start over.  We may offer you a discount on the service fee.

What if a different species penetrates your repairs?

¨      It would be covered under the warranty.

¨      The exception is bats getting in through repair work done for another species.

What does exclusion mean?

¨      It is a technique or materials used to protect possible entry points.

¨      An example would be an attic fan guard, chimney cap, or buried mesh to prevent groundhogs or skunks from going under a deck or building.

¨      These are not typical repairs, like replacing siding or boards, but more often upgrades, adding materials, to protect your structure.

How soon can you set traps?

¨      We will typically set traps the next day.  If you contact us early enough in the day, we can often set up that day.

How often do you check traps?

¨      State law requires traps be checked every 24 hours.

¨      We allow you, the client, to accept that responsibility and contact us by 8am, each morning, to report “catch” or “no catch”.

¨      If you choose to check the traps and notify us, you will eliminate daily trap maintenance fees.

How do I get in touch with you to make my report?

¨      Our business card has the reporting phone number on the back.

¨      If you lose the card Contact Us.

We live out of town and can’t check the traps every day. What then?

¨      We can provide the complete service for you

¨      If this is a rental, you may have the tenant call in.

¨      You are still responsible for any fees if they forget to call in.

We are going out of town. What do we do?

¨      Contact Us and we’ll have a technician schedule trap checks.

Weekends and holidays too?

¨      Yes, we work weekends.

¨      We do take major holidays off.  If we are not going to be available, we will notify you and deactivate the traps.

How long does it take to pick up an animal once it is captured?

¨      If you report “catch” by 8 am, it will be that day.

¨      If we happen to catch an animal later in the day, give us a call at the office.  We may have someone in the area and get it picked up that day.

What do you do with the animal once you catch it?

¨      State, federal, and local laws dictate what we can do.

¨      If legal, and suitable habitat is available, we will relocate animals.

¨      Animals that are high-risk vectors of disease must be euthanized.

How do you euthanized the animals or “put them to sleep”?

¨      We utilize humane methods approved by the American Veterinary Association and/or the National Wildlife Control Operators Association Euthanasia Guidelines.

What if there was no animal in the trap when I called in the report, but there is when you come out to rebait or freshen the lure?

¨      We will remove the animal, and leave you a note or door hanger.

There is an animal stuck in my wall. Can you get it out?

¨      There is always a good chance the animal is not stuck.  It is more likely using that void as a denning area.

¨      Once an animal is in a house, you’d be surprised where it can access.

¨      If an animal is actually stuck, we can cut a hole in the wall to remove it.  Contact us.

What about an animal in the fireplace or chimney?

¨      No problem, contact us.

I have an animal in my basement can you help?

¨      Not a problem, contact us.

¨      Usually we can locate the animal and remove it.  If there are a lot of obstructions or hiding places, we may need to set a trap.

¨      We’ll figure out how it got in too.

Can you remove the contaminated insulation and feces from my attic?

¨      Yes, we offer clean out and re-insulation services. Contact us.
